“When you walk into the Northwest Health – La Porte Infusion Center, they welcome you by your name and make you feel like family.” - Danial Geren
Imagine going somewhere at 7 a.m., 7 days a week for 30 consecutive days to receive IV antibiotics. That’s exactly what Danial Geren did to recover from osteomyelitis, a serious bone infection that he developed after foot surgery.
“It’s a rough thing going to the infusion center every morning at 7 a.m., 7 days a week for an entire month, but it was necessary to recover and save my foot,” said Danial. “What made it bearable was the infusion care team – they were all wonderful. It may be hard to believe, but they actually made my experience enjoyable. Every single person was friendly, knowledgeable and spot-on with their treatment. And the best part was they all were encouraging and knew how to keep my spirits up.”
What would you tell others who may need to undergo infusion therapy?
“First, trust the infusion care team. They know what they are talking about and they know what they are doing,” said Danial. “Second, I’d tell them to have a positive attitude. It will help with your outcome and makes a big difference with everything.”
Danial added, “The idea of infusion is scary. It’s a nervous situation, but they will make you feel comfortable and help relieve all of that nervousness. You learn right away that everyone there really cares.”
